Location: Rose Academy of Burlesque, 711 West Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN

Introduction to Rad Fat Yoga is designed for folks new or returning to yoga looking for a class just for larger people to learn about yoga poses for fat bodies. The class fee covers five 75-minute classes.

This class is only for folks who are in larger bodies. This helps set the environment to feel more comfortable to try poses no matter what your fitness level is. Class is open to people of all genders.

This series focuses on yoga asana specifically for fat bodies. ‘Asana’ is the Sanskrit word that refers to physical poses (the term yoga refers to the greater philosophy of which asana is only a small portion.) Class will include both active and restorative poses, including in-depth exploration of all options available for each pose offered. After pose exploration, we'll put together the poses we learned into a flow, followed by time for relaxing and restorative poses with body love meditations. This class can be done entirely seated in a chair and will provide options to accommodate most injuries as well as supports the full diversity of bodies.

By the end of this series, participants will know the most common yoga poses, multiple options for doing each pose, and a working knowledge of how to do yoga in a way that supports their body just as it is today.

What to have for class: Dress in comfortable clothing that you can move and stretch in. I recommend a bottle of water. Mats, blocks, and straps are available at the studio, but you are welcome to bring your own. We also have sturdy chairs for seated options available. You may want to bring a bolster, blanket, or poof from home.

Reduced price and scholarships are available - apply here to arrange. More information on Rad Fat Yoga Classes can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions.
