Let’s get ready for Rad Fat Yoga!
What should I have for class?
While classes are virtual, we can loan folks a basic yoga kit that includes a mat, block and strap through contactless pick up in south Minneapolis. You are also welcome to purchase your own mat and props or use household items.
For classes with a flow or vinyasa element (class descriptions here), you should have a chair, strap, and 1-2 blocks for the flow portion. A couple other items folks find useful for flow are knee pads (like for gardening), gloves and socks with grippies, and yoga towels. A water bottle is also recommended. I recommend practicing near a wall or corner for extra stability in general and we use the wall as a prop in some poses.
For classes with a restorative element (class descriptions here), we recommend 1-2 bolsters or pillows (couch cushions work especially well) and a blanket in addition to 1-2 blocks and a strap.
In restorative yoga, the goal is to get super comfy. Many people enjoy lowering the lights, lighting a candle or using a diffuser, using an eye mask or eye pillow, adding an extra layer (long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt), and/or adding weighted bags to add pressure.
What should I wear?
Whatever you are comfortable in and can move around freely in! Leggings, sweatpants, tank tops, t-shirts are typical items people wear for yoga. People generally practice barefoot or in socks, but some may find shoes to be supportive for flow/vinyasa yoga.
